How to make Air fryer potato chips

However, very little oil is used in manufacturing these chips, and a two-cup serving contains only seven grams of fat. Creating a large batch requires effort, but it is well worth the effort. Consider serving it with a tasty dip, such as a homemade cheeseburger dip or a French onion dip.

The process of making these crispy potato chips will take some time. However, the effort will be well worth it! Whether it is homemade pop tarts or taco seasoning, anything prepared from scratch simply tastes better. These air-fried potato chips are no exception. You will be satisfied with these chips if you are looking for something crunchy, crispy, and somewhat salty!

Air-frying potato chips is a game changer for snack time. Even though they require a generous amount of oil to air fry, they are much more superior to anything you may find in a supermarket. All the taste and crunch without any additional fat. These crispy chips will amaze your family and friends.

Ingredients

  • Two large russet potatoes
  • One tablespoon olive oil
  • One teaspoon kosher salt

Step 1

The potatoes should be thoroughly scrubbed and washed. There is no need to peel the potatoes. Using a mandolin or vegetable peeler, slice potatoes into skinny slices. For a more traditional chip form, slice either long or short ways. Make use of the 1/8-inch setting on the mandolin

Step 2

After cutting the potatoes, immediately immerse each slice in ice water. Let them soak in the chilly water for at least 20 minutes. As a result, the potatoes are protected against oxidation, and their starch can escape, allowing them to crisp properly.

Step 3

Take it out of the cold water. Put the elements on a baking sheet lined with paper towels after giving them another cold water rinse. Using the paper towels, squeeze and pat them dry until they are as dry as possible.

Step 4

A large basin should be filled with slices of dried potato. Before coating, drizzle olive oil over the surface. Additionally, you may spray canola or olive oil on the surface. A temperature of 350 degrees Fahrenheit should be set for the air fryer.

Step 5

In the air fryer’s basket, arrange the potato slices in a uniform layer that does not overlap too much. At 350 degrees, air fry for 10 minutes.

Step 6

You may need to divide and turn the potato pieces if necessary. Then, increase the heat to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and air fry the food for an additional 3 to 5 minutes, or until it is crispy and slightly golden brown on all sides.

Season immediately with salt after removing from the air fryer. Repeat as necessary in order to consume all the remaining chips. Garnish with finely chopped parsley or chives, if desired.

Instructions

Using a mandolin, slice the potatoes very thinly. You may also thinly slice the potatoes by hand. Please make sure that you do so. After soaking the potatoes in ice-cold water for 15 minutes, drain them. To dry, use a paper towel.

The olive oil spray should apply to the bottom of the air fryer. Ensure that the potatoes are placed in the air fryer uniformly, without overlapping. After the olive oil spray has been applied to the top, salt should be sprinkled.

At 360 degrees, cook for 10 to 15 minutes. Check your potatoes after five minutes and stir them every five minutes until they are golden brown. As a garnish, add extra salt and parsley if necessary.

Crispy potato chip tips

  • Ensure that your potato slices are dehydrated. In this way, they do not have to steam first. Then, it’s just a matter of cooking and crisping.
  • You have to ensure that it finishes, so that it does not burn while the others finish crisping.
  • If you have a mandolin, use it to ensure they are thin and even. You can still make these potato chips if you don’t have one. Keep the slices as even as possible. You may need to cook them longer since they will be thicker.
  • For best results, use Russets, Yukons, or Golden potatoes. There is too much starch in red potatoes to make them crisp.
  • You have to ensure the oil has a high smoke point. However,  Your air fryer may worsen over time if you use aerosol sprays with additives.
  • Try out different flavors if you like. Add BBQ seasoning, ranch, chili, or chipotle chili powder. You can even use cheese powder to make cheddar potato chips. Once the potato chips are done cooking, toss them with the flavoring.
